How to get reliable server list and IP filter
After you have downloaded and installed the official release, open eMule and follow these steps.
- Go to Options -> Security
- Check the box next to ‘Filter servers too’
- In ‘Update from URL’ box, type:
http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/ipfilter.zip (Update: if that URL doesn’t work for you, try http://upd.emule-security.net/IpFilter.v143.by.R3Qu13M.zip)
- Click on ‘Load’
- Go to Options -> Server
- Set ‘Remove dead servers after’ to 9 tries
- Click ‘List’ button that appears next to ‘Auto update server list at startup’
- Notepad will open. Write this line and remove all others if any:
http://www.peerates.net/servers.php - Save changes in notepad
- Untick the options to update list of servers when connecting to new server and new client
- Click OK to save and exit options window
- Go to Servers window
- Remove all servers from static list
- Remove all servers from list
- In ‘Update Server.met from URL’ field, type the same URL you typed in step 8:
http://www.peerates.net/servers.php - Click Update button
- Double click on any server. Now you’re connected.
Also make sure to set your share folders in ‘Options -> Directories’ and open TCP and UDP ports set in ‘Options -> Connection’ from your router.

Some people ask questions like, “how do i connect to a korean server?”. Well, it’s not necessary to connect to a Korean server to download Korean content, and Koreans don’t necessarily connect to Korean servers. eMule searches throughout the global servers to give you results. Just make sure to select ‘global server’ when searching. Especially, these days where servers have deteriorated, you should try using Kad search instead.
