I hate to laugh at a serious incident like this, and the story is a little dated, but … Here’s a story of a man who got scammed over and over again.

The Postman

A postman in UK met an American friend, Angela Gates, on MySpace. She started asking for money to pay for her mother’s funeral and medical expenses, then she asked for some more to free up her inherited land worth $2 million.

He kept getting scammed throughout the year, and finally grew suspicious only when she stopped communicating with him. He had already handed over £100,000 to her. Of course, she was actually a Nigerian man.

That’s not it though. He tried to get help from what he thought was an FBI site, but that was also a scam.

And finally, he was contacted by a woman claiming she was also scammed. She asked him to help pay for the legal expenses for hiring two ex-FBI agents to investigate both of their cases. Yes, he handed over more money to another stranger; £30,000 more.

Angela

In the end, he lost over £130,000 in this ordeal.

People should know by now not too fall for Nigerian scams. Don’t think people you meet online are your friends … and … Don’t send money to Nigeria!

he now believes that these people are also involved in the scam. – Duh?

As always, if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably a scam. That rule applies in this case as well, if you know what I mean.
