Online TV Scams

Last Updated: Mar 24, 2012 I’ve put together, with your help, a list of scam sites that claim to deliver satellite video content to your PC. They do not offer anything of value. Don’t pay for any “satellite” or online TV services from sites listed here. Most are likely selling free players such as Miro (formerly democracy player), TVU Player, SOP Cast or linking to free… Continue reading

I have twice received a text message on my mobile phone from a telephone number with a Florida area code. The number is 1-850-228-3790. The text message refers you to a website nettv5.com. It offers a software download for receiving satellite TV over the Internet. It asks for money. My mobile phone number is on the Federal ‘Do Not Call’ Registry. My emails to support@nettv5.com have been returned as ‘undeliverable.’ I called the phone number above, and got a recording that ‘a mailbox has not been set-up for this telephone number.’ I believe this is both Spam and a Scam.

    Some more scam sites
Some sites are “review sites” that just lead to other TV4PC sites

    tv4pc-tips.blogspot.com
    watch2000channels.com
    isoftwaretv.com
    johnq.com
    onlinetvpro.com
    sattube.com

    tv4pc.myexclusiveblog.com
    tv4pc.xml.in
    tv4pc.movie.lc
    store.smithmicro.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=10537
    tv4pccomparison.blogspot.com
    wix.com/gtworldwide10/tvforpc
    directpctv.tv
    satellitepcbox.com
    satelliteultimate.com
    top-internettv.com
    trek-marketing.com/pctv_4_me
    dtv4pc.net
    satellitestreams.com
    digitaltvnopc.org
    digitaltvoncomputer.org
    watchtvthroughinternet.com

And one final link, which I find is troubling…
Why is Office Depot/staples and amazon selling these as well? I guess greedy corps, couldn’t resist it any longer, and had to get in on the scam, as well??

    officedepot.com/a/products/437364/Digital-TV-For-PC-2

Amazing, that a large company, would stoop so low, that they had to sell a scam product!! And check out the user review.

I guess it is a ‘free-for-all’, now.. if places like Office Depot, and amazon, are selling these scams to customers. sad!

    • Posted September 1, 2011 at 5:36 pm | Permalink

Thanks for the list, but I don’t think I’ll add them to the list. If people start reporting and I start adding affiliate site made by all kinds of people, it’ll truly be endless. Visitors will end up at the same place anyways, which will be listed here, hopefully.
And I’m surprised Office Depot carries one of these. Amazon, I can somewhat understand since it doesn’t appear to be sold from Amazon directly but rather from other sellers.

If these are “all” scams. How are they “all” still in business?
What can legally be done? I guess it also depends on jurisdiction and laws of every country/Provence/state/city/etc…

I guess if someone in Europe, is selling to US and Canada (and vise versa), there really is not jurisdiction for prosecution? Not sure how it works.

Just an FYI, to the sites that were just offering MyP2P.eu links, that website has totally shut down, including their main page, and forums. they do have a mirror site, as a backup, but I guess something caught up with them…

Interesting times, in the P2P TV world right now…

  13. SatelliteDirectSCAM
    Posted August 30, 2011 at 5:24 am | Permalink

Just wondering… If satellite direct is a scam. How is it they keep growing, and growing?? The affiliate program is expanding everyday. How do they stay open, is what I am really asking?

May I suggest something..? To have a sub-section, on your list, with all the different sites, that are associated with Satellite Direct. I consider them the “Microsoft” of the TV4PC scammers.

Take a look, at the different web URL’s they offer:
    satellitedirect.uk.com
    satellitedirect.eu.com
    satellitedirect.au
    satellitedirect.ca
    satellitedirect.tv/sports

Also under the Satellite Direct Umbrella
    streamdirect-sports.com/
    streamdirecttv.com/
    streamdirect-tvpc.com
    (There are soooo many more)

The affiliates are in the 1000′s and 1000′s. Who are these people? Do you actually get TVU with satellite direct? or do they have their own “free tv” software, that just picks up free internet streams, that are up 10% of the time.

Anyways… It boggles my mind, how this company keeps growing. I guess nothing can be done legally, since they do post TOS/privacy policies and agreements on their sites. It is just 99.9% of people do not read the fine print.

    • Posted August 30, 2011 at 5:46 pm | Permalink

Good find. Thanks for the suggestion, but in the end, they’re all the same — same scam. I know some sell you TVU player but not sure about this particular one. Even if they do have their own software, like you said, it’ll be actually worse than getting TVU.

Like I wrote in one article, the growth is due to the power of affiliate marketing. It’s really annoying, I know.

p.s. Your comment was filtered as spam because your had too many addresses in your comment. To all: Please remove, “www” and “http” as mentioned in the rules.

I looked at this site, thought it looked quite convincing and got as far as giving my email address in the registration process (which you have to do before you get to see the rates they charge).

I didn’t actually pay anything – though I very nearly did. (I really wanted to watch the rugby world cup.)

Fortunately I gave a trackable email (I use sneakemail.com which gives me lots unique email addresses). Within a few days, I started to get spam emails to the email I had provided them.

So as well as (apparently) not giving you the rugby world cup, it is harvesting your email address.

The most recent email invites me to download Google Earth software. I wonder how virus-ridden that is.

    MyTVforfree.com.

Complete deceptive scam. Just stole $22 from me. Basically bought a bookmark.

I was just telling my friend it sounded too good to be true. It was. Links to justin.tv, ustream, recorded webcasts, all easily found on a Google search. No television content. No way to get a refund. The bastards are even polite about it.

    Hello.
    I live in Kingston,Ontario,Canada
On our local “Kijiji Site” I spotted a ad for “FREE-TV CANADA”.
It promised 3500 channels in all categories ,and a one time fee for $49.95.
I paid the fee via Interact, and received a link to download the “link”.
What I received was a host of channels, sure enough, but most not in English, and 50% or more “Off the air”.
The content over all was shoddy at best, and when I asked for a refund, because of the quality and content,”Bill” said I was declined.
I do plan to follow up with my local BBB,but this episode has left me feeling completely ripped off.
I hope you will publish this scammers site.

What are you guyz trying to prove?

No it’s not scam. Scam are the people who want to watch football/other sports streams in HD in an illegal way with a cheap $10-$20 subscription.

If you guyz are afraid of scams, please go to NFL network or DirectTV and subscribe their legal product to watch 100% guaranteed streams.

Try to understand that it’s not possible for any illegal broadcaster to guarantee any perfect stream to you.

These scam channels are there just because of some people do not want to pay the valid authorities.

There’s a red flag, right there. :) Thanks for reading.

So I was doing a search for these interent tv, sattelite tv on internet sites, and came across one, sounded great, went ahead and got it, got some email, that I coudn’t read accept for a website, I was suppose to go too, clicked on link, got a error message, went back to original website, sent them email saying I can’t figure out how to work this, not to mention I haven’t gotten any email from you telling me the software or whatever to download. Waited over 2 days now, nothing back. So you ask…. what is this site, well apparently it goes by a few names, so I’ll list em all. Watchlivechannels.com is one, internettv.tv is the other, and smartwebdeals.com is the 3rd. Save your time, money etc and Stay away from any of these named websites.

Not that I care of the reviews on this list, since It’s easy for an Internet Marketer to promote his own products review. But out of honesty and believing in this site mission to build a scam free internet as it claims, I recommend increasing the customers awareness of READING TOS BEFORE THEY BUY instead of just shitting scammers to everyone. On this list I can verify that many of the sites ASK visitors to read TOS BEFORE THEY BUY and FORBID THEM OF PROCEEDING TO PAYMENT BEFORE THEY DO. Tell me how on earth would that be scam as oppose to potential customers being.. well let’s say NOT AWARE!

Again, I represent two of those sites and speaking of their names but in the same time I am speaking with integrity and logic as an independent Internet Marketer who can tell a scam site from a site that is legitimate, providing privacy policy, TOS, and DMCA warnings too. The latter elements is what represent an online business and works like official papers for real offline businesses. If you buy something from a company, be required to signing a warranty without seeing what it says, then you sign and actually BUY, will you be qualifying to a refund specially when the warranty you signed says clearly that there is no money-back guarantee?

People.. get real and stop deceiving yourself on who is the stupid one who signs blindly trying to get access to something that should be illegal in his country. The sites I am representing are working under the Danish law where it is legal. Now, who is the stupid scam you think?

    • KVNPark
      Posted April 25, 2011 at 5:01 pm | Permalink

Tell me which two sites you represent, and I may take them off the list. But let me first respond to your comment.

Having a TOS, a privacy policy and respecting DMCA does not make a site legitimate. When a site deceives people with false promises in big shiny fonts on the front page, then contradicts itself in the TOS, that’s a scam. Everyone knows people don’t read TOS. Yes, people should, but they don’t and owners of these sites know that and take advantage of that, and you know it.

It’s like a store advertising and selling you a supposedly brand new product which turns out to be used and broken. When the customer complains, the store owner tells him to look at the fine print they agreed to by purchasing from them.

And it’s not about legality. It’s about deception. I don’t know about your sites, but many on the list sell Miro, a free non-profit video player, which isn’t even theirs. Many sports scams promise HD but fail to deliver any feed properly. People pay these scams because they’re shown what looks like a better alternative to i.e. p2p4u.net but turn out to be not.

You may even believe what you’re saying, but a scam is a scam is a scam.

What is the real deal with Internet TV? Is it for real or do ‘they’ play on our desire to have this technology and get us to keep clicking on link after link after link in search of the Holy Grail, Internet TV. Is there free technology out there? I am mostly interested in major US Sports and US Network television shows. Can you give me any advice? Justin.tv is becoming a bit of a scam… i went on it today after it had been some months now. I wanted to watch a phillies game for spring training. i have the MLB network but i would rather watch it on my laptop and use my big tv for black ops.. First i checked the MLBnetwork.com.. even though i subscribe to the channel i have to pay a extra 100 bucks to get their web shit.. not happening.. So i go on justin.tv which use to be kinda reliable. Low and behold there were like 7 channels offered and they were all scam feeds with links to sites that wanted you to fill out surveys and shit.. complete pain in the ass… The worst part.. and i mean worst was every channel i clicked i had to sit through a fucked up proactive commercial or ford truck commercial.. though i got over this.. the thing that just made me shake my head was that Justin.tv offered a way out of the commercials for that particular channel… if you filled out surveys for them.. What a fucking scam.. For a site that already is ripping off the industry by broadcasting countless copyright materials daily.. lol now they are going to rack my brain with these abnoxious surveys.. I’m thinking it’d just be best to turn off the PS3 and watch FIOS

So if anyone thinking your list contains some legal sites they are all working for those sites? Someone even called justin.tv a scam because their community don’t broadcast what they promise. Perhaps Google is a scam too because when you search for man utd v tottenham live you can see watchfootballnow.com or free-football.tv on top results?

Tell you what, how about if idiots who call everyone a scam bother to read the terms and conditions published on these sites saying that ‘they are only offering p2p links’ organized by game to save the time of the average user who can’t afford to search the whole internet to find a stream?

Actually you can’t subscribe or buy on most of the listed websites here without checking ‘I agree to the terms and conditions’, so you agree to something you never read then think yourself wise enough to judge if a site is a legitimate or a scam? Or just the fact that they are commercial vs free sites makes them scam or what’s your definition to scam anyway?

I came to this blog investigating reviews about one of those mentioned sites as a scam after reading their TOS that says that they don’t broadcast.

BTW, you are all actually a scam too because you are trying to watch pirated pay-per-view channels that you have to pay to watch on your TV! Well go buy yourself some sky subscription and stay legal or just waste your time finding some link that will be shutdown in minutes or just buy to get dozens of links for each game just in case one has been shutdown.

Tell me if there were some other ‘legal’ or non-scam option!

I see free-football.tv/watchfootballnow.com owner Mark Dady is hard at work again… Moron. You also know that most people in life do not bother to overly read the “terms and conditions” outlayed when purchasing a product, especially when sites main image is overly promoting how amazing and unique they are and then especially when Google lists them so high. I have never once bothered to read the terms and conditions for Asos, Amazon, Asda etc… And no, while Google isn’t a scam, it can wrongly list sites high in it’s index which influences the users to buy. “Your sites” are horrendous, you know it, and as a former member, your list of links is IDENTICALLY copied in the same bloody order as the site myp2p.eu – which I’m sure the admin here will verify is one of the top and most popular sites in this niche. A scam also exists for other factors, for instance, the day I asked you idiots for my money back, and never received it :) When I order a grey shirt from Asos, i know it’s size 12, I know what it looks like, but any good company will appreciate errors, mistakes and then refund you if you ask :) Of course, free-football.tv and watchfootballnow are different, as the man who owns “M Dady Ltd” just wants your cash and runs many websites, also in other niches :D

And 1 more.. Myp2p update their listings when streams die, Mr Dady puts in any old crap a few hours before kick off and leaves it there :D When you pay to watch your “guaranteed Celtic match”, you find nothing there other than a broken flash player box. When you ask for a refund, it isn’t granted. But of course as you said “not a scam” (haha!) because somewhere in their TOS print, they already say “it’s freely available”….. Hilarious. Once again people, please avoid watchfootballnow.com and free-football.tv – money down the f’n drain.

It’s one thing to stream without a license for free, but charging people for these steams is a whole different story. Just stop it.

@Craig, thanks for your response but I would like to say that reading TOC is a good idea, especially when dealing with an unknown or shady business.

To reply to “Henry Ford” above; i too believe you work for free-football.tv as i can confirm it is the most horrendous waste of money anyone can give. I can’t believe any of it’s members are happy and the only reason it shows so high in google is because the owner will be delving into what my friend says is called “black hat seo”. Don’t ask me any more on that, i have no idea really, something to do with manipulating google into believing your site is important with backlinks and mass content.

The site should be taken down in my opinion. Thanks KVNPark for this post.

You never want to pay for free streams. They are just one of many linkers who find streams and list them AND charge for that service. I don’t know how good of a job they do, so I can’t comment on that. But I get the feeling this one is a little more legit than other scams that simply want to scam you (not that I’m recommending it).

    @ pondi
Not sure what you mean. Justin.tv is a place where people broadcast whatever they want. I think you’re confused about something.

If someone is sending you to their Justin.tv channel and then tell you to go elsewhere, then whoever is doing that to you may be trying to scam you. But Justin.tv service itself can’t be a scam.

It’s like saying, “eBay is nothing but a scam because one of the seller scammed me.” You should be blaming the person who sent you there in the first place. Not Justin.tv.

Did you pay for ‘online sports’ from maybe one of the site listed above? If you did, then tell me the name of THAT site, and I’ll take a look and add to the list.

They don’t even show half the games they claim to, and they are all just links to justin.tv. Absolutely sickening and you will not get your bloody money back. The guy is so arrogant. Hello,

You guyz are real dumb. How can you expect those online tv channels willl broadcast you a stream without a software? If any of these website starts broadcasting all the soccer matches in real hd and directly to you, next day they’ll be down by dmca because the channel doesn’t have the license to broadcast.

I purchased free-football.tv one year ago. i know they are not of that quality which they advertise. But remember one thing, there are thousand channels on SopCast, TVU, StreamTorrent etc. Who has so much time to find the channel which is showing my match?. These software come with some default channels which are just for demo. Free-football tv gives me the exact private channel number which is showing my desired match. Yes this channel number can be found online for free. But who has the time to search? They search for me, and I pay them. It’s simple.

You talked about justintv. Just before a match starts, go to justin tv and search for your match. You’ll find a lot of channels which are actually not showing the match and just showing a static a banner which says, “go to … website to watch the full match.” it’s time consuming to find a good justin tv channel which actually shows the match, not any banner refering to other site.

If you are expecting to watch matches in HD, don’t uy these online tv products. But they are somehow usefull for normal tv stream viewing.

      Regards.

        Don’t call people dumb.

I’m not sure if you’re here to advertise free-football.tv or not, but I’m sorry to hear you’re paying a scammer to satisfy your TV needs.

        http://www.scamfreeinternet.com/2010/01/how-i-watch-sports-online/

Sites I listed there are all free and do a much better job of listing live channels.

        • Henry Ford
          Posted October 5, 2010 at 2:33 pm | Permalink

No I’m not here to advertise them. I simply tried to say that they gather some links which are time consuming to find.

You listed some websites who broadcast sports for free. But do these websites reach us while we search on Google for a match? No. For example, when we search for a match like Man Utd vs Chelsea, Free-Football.tv or other sites like this appear on the search result.

          • KVNPark
            Posted October 5, 2010 at 4:36 pm | Permalink

Why would you search for a match on Google? Google’s not a real-time crawler that can give you up to date results. It doesn’t mean anything if they appear on Google results. In fact, it’s horrible that they’re able to bid for such keywords so effectively (if what you say is true).

ATDHE, for example, will list all the games for today on their page and others categorize sports for easy navigation. It’s not hard to find games at all.

It’s a scam. Don’t try to convince people otherwise.

Welcome back Henry Ford. I don’t know why you keep visiting this site. Disabling links has nothing to do with SEO. Like I wrote in the rules, it’s to prevent people from clicking on scam sites, and comments with links may be filtered by akismet. Thus to prevent legitimate comments from being filtered as spam, I tell people to omit ‘www’ and ‘http’. Understood? I’m a WordPress noob? I’m the one who enabled nofollow tags in comments. You didn’t find anything spectacular there, Henry.

You keep posting garbage on my site and I’m going to start deleting your comments.
